jt's treehouse

When a boy says he "needs a clubhouse," he needs a clubhouse! Two sturdy oaks later- with assists from family and friends (ifriends, too!)- this clubhouse should have this dad up a tree...and just in time, too!

Knock-Knock...

Today Uncle Kevin brought over the custom made, pre-hung, jt's tree house sized door that he had made by a pal of his. We have all been awaiting it's arrival with much anticipation since it was ordered. Though signals got crossed and the door wound up hung wrong- opening in, but towards the center of the tree house, as opposed to towards the wall as we preferred- we managed to straighten that out before the day was out.

My bro also brought along a whole bunch of his "get it done" and get it done we did. Looking to force a decision on the still simmering ladder-to-a-trap door versus ladder-to-the-deck accessibility issue, he got an assist from Sean to seal up the rear wall. Door in hand, the two of them also got the siding wrapped around the doorway.

In the mean time I was left to work out the "flipping" of the door in it's frame. Pre-hung doors are awesome because...well...they work! Now here I was messing with all that work-ability. After moving the hinges and much tweaking I finallt managed to get the deed done. My advice? When ordering pre-hung doors make extra certain they are hung the way you want them. This was no fun.

After Uncle Kev had to head out, Nate came home just as in time to assist Sean, Aunt Michelle and I get the newly re-hinged door up into the tree house...While Mom fired away with the camera to document the feat.

jt says "Hey!" and "Goodbye" to what has been his entrance to his tree house for months.

Uncle Kevin and Thing (Sean's hand) fit the panel of siding that does away with our temporary entrance to jt's Treehouse.

Sean hammers away at fitting the siding to the doorway, the doorway to be cut out after.

Teamwork gets that door up there...
...but, "Ruh-Roh"...

...it appears the doorway needs some alterations.
Next week.
